July 2006

Cantigney Park in Wheaton, Illinois had the Gin Palace Jesters over on a beautiful sunny day to play Country and Western music in the park under the bandshell among a grove of trees. We were delighted to be there to do our best to entertain the fine folks of Wheaton, IL on a Sunday afternoon. These pictures are of that adventure. Thanks to Lizz Sisson for taking them. They were much more crystal clear before the webmaster ruined them. Sorry!

We were gigging outside under a bandstand gazebo. It was swell and picturesque!

Here's a 3/4 shot from behind. You can see the fine folks of Wheaton enjoying a Sunday in the park. We really enjoy playing for regular folks and consider ourselves to be as strange as you can imagine so...it's different for us and for some reason, regular folks seem to like us.

Rick was enjoying himself too as were all the Gin Palace Jesters.

Here's good shot of Gabriel Stutz on pedal steel and Fiddlin' Katie Schadegg.

Gabriel is thinking about a cigarette right now and Katie's biding her time before the next fiddle solo. There were 3 or 4 little girls at this concert who we're pretty sure were inspired to take up the violin in the very near future.

Here's another 3/4 shot. That man over by the tree on the left knew the words to every classic song the band played.

I think it's a hillbilly band? Dave kept looking at that guy when he thought he might forget a lyric.

Ken really concentrates on those finger placements to get 'em just right.

Casey and Dave show off by not looking at their hands.

Hillbilly dreams being fullfilled.

'nuff said.

Alot of the folks at the show knew all about the type of Classic Country music the Jesters play and seemed to enjoy all the original songs as well.

Gabriel excitedly said, "These people know about pedal steels and fiddles and really know what this music is supposed to sound like!"

Katie responded, "That's exactly what worries me!"

Casey never worries.

Dave is worried he should consider worrying more often but is worried there's no time to worry and is worried where he's going to find the time to get that worrying done.

3 part harmony

There's a drummer back there somewhere.

Ahh there he is.

Ken sees some squirrels in a tree. Yippie!

All in all it was a great time in Cantigney park. Thanks for having us and hope to see you next year.
